I do takeout quite often and the sushi is pretty good for the price. It's super affordable compared to other places.

I came here to celebrate my partner's bday, and I was blown away by how delicious everything was! Now it's my go-to restaurant when I'm in San Diego. The service could be friendlier, but otherwise I love the food and the prices are affordable.

If you want inexpensive yet delicious Japanese food then this is it! I was introduced to this place by a Japanese American group. They have huge bento boxes, good sushi, noodles, and more. I believe you have to call in your order as they're old school like that. It is usually under $70 (for 2 bentos and an appetizer or two) maybe a little more with alcohol and I always end up with leftovers. The interior is basic but this is one of those places you go to with company you like. It's in the mall opposite Chili's.

Osaka is a solid 4 stars. The food is decent--it's not the best Japanese food I've ever had, but the prices are very reasonable. The service is fast and friendly. There's lots of free parking and it's conveniently next to the freeway.

Great sushi and Japanese eatery tucked in north SD. Pros - friendly family owned restaurant with fast service and fresh seafood. I got the Udon and it was packed with seafood and flavor. They have large portions and dont skimp on the seafood. Cons - none Great place for a lunchtime meal or sushi with friends. Check it out if you are in the area

This restaurant is my go-to for Japanese food in the area. Very casual ambiance and plenty of seating for a weekday dinner. Food came out fairly quickly. I typically order the bentos since they're pretty filling. I got the Combo A bento which came with chicken teriyaki, Osaka beef, 8 pc California roll, shrimp and scallop tempura, and miso soup (not pictured). The meats were well cooked and the sauce was flavorful. Good portion for the price paid. I also got a dragon roll, which has become one of my new favorites here. The eel was tender and well prepared. Flavor of the roll was reminiscent of a soft shell crab roll, nice and crispy on the inside. The servers check in every so often. However, I'm not too bothered by the presumed lack of service that other reviews have stated.

I've been dining here since the 1900s (specifically in the '90s), and the reality is that the service here is not spectacular, but their food prices are. Their basic sushi rolls are only $6.25 each, a combination platter of beef or chicken with a side of shumai, etc., for $10.99, and their shrimp tempura platter for $11.95. Anywhere else, these would run you an extra $3 to $7 each. Miso soup ($2.25): always refreshing, especially in nippy December, and why not order this for $2? Shrimp tempura bento ($11.95): simple but satisfying. Crispy shrimp & vegetables with a light batter, fluffy rice, and three different salads to cut the fat from the fried food, 8/10 rating. Their signature Osaka Roll ($7.95): simple but tasty. The shrimp is fried crispy and cooled with the slightly salty & sweet cream cheese while the fresh cucumbers and immtation crab add more textures, 7/10. My other recommendations are the salmon skin roll, Philadelphia roll, unagi hand roll, rainbow roll, and teriyaki chicken combination platter with fried salmon. The food comes out quickly, but don't expect any drink refills or for the servers to check on you later, except when they give you the bill. You'll pay at the register near the exit door, just like at Denny's; otherwise, you'll be waiting for an eternity at your table for them to take your payment and for a box for leftovers. With that being said, don't come here expecting extraordinary food and service, but rather dine here for simple food that is bank account friendly :)
